PART II:THE WILL OF GOD
CHAPTER 10
THE WILL OF GOD
CONCERNING DIVINE HEALING
God's will for people to be physically healed is revealed in
one of his redemptive names of the Old Testament. He was called
YAHWEH-RAPHA, which can be translated, "I am the LORD that
healeth thee."
There are many instances where the Lord healed people in the
Old Testament. He also granted divine health to Israel at times-
-people didn't get sick in the first place!
God's will is also revealed through the ministry of the Lord
Jesus Christ. There is no recorded instance where Jesus refused
to heal anyone who came to him and asked for healing .
The written Word of God also reveals that it is God's will
to heal. Peter seems to sum up Jesus' healing ministry in this
verse:
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the
Holy Ghost and with power: who went about
doing good, and healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
(Acts 10:38).
Jesus also commissioned the 12 disciples to heal. Next, he
commissioned the 70 disciples to heal. Later, all believers were
given the authority to pray for the sick:
And these signs shall follow them that
believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they
drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt
them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and
they shall recover. (Mark 16:17-18).
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me, the works that I do shall he
do also; and greater works than these shall
he do; because I go unto my Father. And
whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will
I do, that the Father may be glorified in the
Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I
will do it. If ye love me, keep my
commandments. (John 14:12-15).
Remember that God is not the author of disease. He is the
healer. Satan is the one who makes people sick. (We also make
ourselves sick by not following God's guidelines and sometimes by
not using common sense). We do not glorify God by being sick--we
glorify God by being healed!
Some are not healed because they simply do not know the
scriptures and are unsure that it is God's will to heal them.
Some are not healed because of unbelief. Some are not healed
because of unconfessed sin in their lives.
When we become convinced that it is God's will to heal us
today, then we can pray in faith. Then God will do what he has
wanted to do all along: heal us.
For an excellent presentation of divine healing, read F. F.
Bosworth, CHRIST THE HEALER (Old Tappan, NJ: Fleming H. Revell
Co., 1973).

the Healer," Chapter 17 of my book, HOW TO RAISE YOUR SELF-ESTEEM
USING PROVEN BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES).
